One great thing about the movies is there's always another one coming to a theater near us.

As difficult as it sometimes is to put the bad films out of our minds (for those who saw "The Dukes of Hazzard," this will be a long process that might require professional help), we do it because there are so many other intriguing options waiting to fill the void.

Here, listed in order, are the five movies I'm most looking forward to this fall and winter:
"Flightplan": Based on their trailers, this one gets the nod over Peter Jackson's "King Kong" remake as the popcorn movie I most want to see before the end of the year. Like "Panic Room," "Flightplan" features Jodie Foster as a single mother being chased around an enclosed space -- this time an airplane. Her daughter disappears in mid-flight and the crew won't even admit the little girl was on the plane to begin with.

This movie has some potential problems -- I've never seen anything the director, Robert Schwentke, has done, and Sean Bean ("National Treasure" and "The Island") has played too many generic villains already -- but Foster's presence makes this a must-see for me.
