Guns and roses
ANOTHER gun-totin' ladies' choice is Sean Bean, who is returning to our screens as the rugged Colonel Sharpe after an absence of eight years. The two-part Sharpe's Challenge is set in the year after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, when, upon hearing that a powerful maharaja poses a threat to British rule in India, Wellington sends his trusty soldier on a dangerous mission to the subcontinent.
But our hero is a changed man, according to Bean. Now a farmer, he has mellowed with age. "He hasn't lost any of his admirable qualities, his values or fighting ability, but he is a reluctant warrior when we find him," says the actor. Like Bean, though, he just can't ignore it when duty calls. Thank goodness.
